So, like the title says, this is for Matthew Hughes who has been constantly bugging me to update for a while now :D I've been concentrating on thingsetc (:

I turned sixteen on Sunday, which is cool. I had a rather fun day in town on the Saturday with a whole load of my favourite people, which was lovely. Involved too much coffee, being wrapped in a 9ft 'Happy 3rd Birthday' banner and sword fights/duels with about 20 rainbow sherbet sticks. Then Saturday night was spent at my friend Lexie's sixteenth, which ended up with inappropriate dancing to piss off a homophone, and then everybody's favourite gay best friend stripping to his boxers twice in a room full of Chrisitans. Good times :D

This blog is purely to say how much I love my friends, today made me realise how much I love them.
Especially Lottie, who followed me to my form room to make sure I was okay because I was crying, I love you.

Three: Another Artistic Medium

Traditional art is my main medium, however music is also a big deal to me.
As I may have already mentioned, I get my artistic and creative side from my dad's family. Both my dad and grandad are artists and photographers. However, on my mum's side, it's all about music. I play cornet and I play a little guitar, however i'm awful both of them. Yet, I carry on because of the main reason I love music; It brings people together.
With my cornet, I get to see my family every week, which is really important to me.
And with music by other bands, it has brought some of my friends and me closer. It also has the ability to make me happy, and to make me think.

This one's for Anna, who reminded me of this song the other day :)
"We Are Broken" by Paramore.
Now, I am no huge Paramore fan. I saw them live a couple of years back, and was impressed, however I think that was probably just because of the awful bands they were on with :P This song, on the other hand, is amazing. I first heard of it through the 'To Write Love On Her Arms' cause, something I feel strongly about. I strongly reccommend anybody listening to it, it's beautiful.

"Dark Blue" - Jack's Mannequin.
Okay, so i'm not even going to deny it. I am a Jack's Mannequin whore. They're my favourite band, and I am THAT girl. You know, the one who will react if you dare say the words "bruised", "bloodshot", "dark blue", whatever. I'm annoying as hell. :D
This song was always my favourite Jack's song, and I love it purely because of the memories it holds. Firstly, a certain trip to New York City, where I had Everything In Transit on repeat the whole time. It was the best week of my life and it always brings me back. It also reminds me of Summer '08 and drives in my mum's car with the roof down in the middle of November, singing it loudyly (and destroying it too, mind you). And plus, the video is gorgeous.

Drunk Girl - Something Corporate.
SoCo are my second favourite band ever, which I guess was to be expected because you rarely see a Jack's fan without loving SoCo too. This one I love again, because CJ and I can come out bursting into song at any moment with it, if Michael Cera is mentioned or it's been a lomb time since i've had a drink last :P And I also love the story the song is telling, it's kind of sad.

Finally, here is my last one (i'm getting bored now, can you tell?).
Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley.
It's my second favourite song ever, but it HAS to be the Jeff Buckley version. I refuse to listen to any other version, unless it's my friend Sian playing it on piano in one of our music lessons. It's one of the few songs that reduces me to tears every single time, because of the pure emotion in Buckley's voice. It's beautiful, and there really isn't any other word for it. Oh, and can I also take this opportunity to express my utter disgust that the x-factor's winners song this year is Hallelujah?

Two: Something about a favourite artist.

Above is a picture of Edvard Munch's famous pastel painting, The Scream.

Edvard Munch is my favourite artist of all time, which is unusual, seeing as his style is not one that I would use myself, or is like any other of my favourite artists, such as Rauschenberg. I have never known an artist able to convey his emotions through his work like Munch, and to me, that's what art is about. It's a freedom - no rules, nothing, just your mind and emotions. My dad would disagree - he's very much a traditional artist. His work is almost photographic, in a way. That's where he and I differ.

Just a quick update today, it's getting late and i'm exhausted. :)

One: An introduction.

Hello :)

My name is Zöe. I'm a fifteen year old girl from a scally-ridden town in the North West of England.

The name of my blog comes from endless discussions with my dad and close friends about what actually can be considered 'art'. While my blog won't be primarily about art, it is something that plays a big role in my life, and so will probably be mentioned a lot. Add that to the fact that my imagination is at an all-time failure today, to come up with a half-decent blog name.

I've attempted blogs before, way back when. Each one has successfully failed due to lack of interest. Let's see how long this one lasts.
